Sony releases PS4 1.51 firmware upgrade

Sony PlayStation 4 Midnight Launch

Sony has released firmware upgrade version 1.51 for PlayStation 4, fixing a number of issues such as the user interface and stability.

Owners that are still running into glitches should note that the upgrade is now available, and those that haven't changed the system from automatically download updates will receive the update when the system is on standby mode.

From the PlayStation Blog:

With this minor required update, stability of system software has been improved. In addition, minor refinements to elements of the system UI (such as clearly indicating when a user downloads a game and a game patch at the same time) have been introduced.
A brand new system will always have issues that will need to be ironed out, so having glitches and stability issues are always common. For those that are suffering from the "Blue Light of Death," it's unknown if the patch can actually fix that problem.

My guess is that it probably doesn't. Unless there's something in the software that's causing an output problem to the TV, many of those units are probably defective with a faulty HDMI output.
