Arguably the greatest edition of the Soul Calibur series has been released with an HD.
Namco Bandai has released Soul Calibur 2 HD Online for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 digitally. It's currently available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace for $19.99. The game now includes (obviously) upgraded HD visuals and a feature to play online.
There's also a special bonus since all three versions of the game (for PS2, Xbox, and GameCube) had unique characters to play. From Event Hubs (which also includes pictures):
Originally, Spawn made a guest appearance solely on the Xbox version, and Heihachi appeared specifically on the PlayStation 2. In SC2 HDO, players can choose to play as both guest characters, regardless of which console you download on.Unfortunately, Namco didn't include Link in the upgrade, an unfortunate omission. While he wasn't the greatest character, it's what solidified the GC version as being the best edition of the game.
Still, the fighter lives up to today's standards, and I even played the original edition last Sunday night on the Wii. It's a classic, and I wouldn't mind dropping $20 on it again after paying the same price years ago from the Target discount aisle.
