First, a gameplay trailer was leaked by The Gamer Access earlier today, before the release of the official trailer. Lots of copies were taken down, but the one over at Dailymotion still exists:
The Order: 1886 Merges CG and Gameplay Visuals... by TheGamerAccess
There are two major items to take away from the gameplay trailer. First, the game looks to be a 3rd-person cover shooter, a different feel that what happens in the cinematic trailer that we'll go over later.
Second, the gameplay visuals look amazing. It's clear they were going for a cinematic feel with a wider aspect ratio than standard widescreen TVs.
Next, let's take a look at the cinematic trailer that was released earlier this afternoon (via Youtube):
In this trailer, it gives The Order more of a survival horror feel than a traditional 3rd person shooter. At the very least, we know the game will have plenty of suspense and won't be a traditional adventure game that some expected from the developers.
Comparing both trailers, the gameplay visuals nearly holds up to the cinematic scenes. Nothing has taken me back like this since seeing Resident Evil 4 in action back when it was first released on the Nintendo GameCube.
It would be an incredible achievement to see the PS4 run a game like this, and it looks to be another winner in the PlayStation exclusive library.
