Sony's PlayStation E3 press conference will be seen at a local movie theater near you.
Announced over at the PlayStation Blog today, a live stream of the event will be at approximately 40-50 theaters across the United States and Canada when Sony is doing their show live at E3 on June 9th. Here's what the benefits are of actually going to one of these events versus sitting on your couch and live streaming it over your laptop or phone.
Watching the PlayStation Press Conference LIVE in HD from the comfort of a movie theater with other PlayStation fans. Event features 30 minutes of exclusive content, including extended game footage and developer interviews. Plus surprise giveaways!
A full list of the movie theaters can be found in their blog post. The event will begin 30 minutes before the show actually starts, which will be at 6:00 PM Pacific time (9:00 PM Eastern).
Unfortunately for me, I won't be heading to one as much of the Midwest misses out on the opportunity and the closest one I got is Omaha which is a good couple of hours away. Not even Michigan received a theater.
Either way, it's a great move by Sony to get people more amped for the event that won't be at E3 to actually experience it. Last year's event obviously went pretty well for them, winning many gamers over by thumping Microsoft's conference and making the PlayStation 4 appealing enough to be one of the most successful consoles released in its first year of existence.
Now we'll see what Sony has up their sleeve to continue the hot pace and convince even more people to get their new console.
