Metal Gear Solid V shows significant difference between PlayStation 4, Xbox One versions

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will run in different resolutions on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and last generation consoles. DualShockers provides comparisons between both new generation consoles and shows the differences that a higher resolution makes.

Last week, Hideo Kojima, the game director of MGSV at Konami, announced that there would be separate frame rates and resolutions for the game depending on what console gamers chose to play on:
  • PS3 or Xbox 360: 720p at 30 frames per second.
  • Xbox One: 720p at 60 FPS.
  • PS4: 1080p at 60 FPS.
Essentially, the PS4 version is the definitive edition of the game, giving players both full high-definition at a rapid-fast framerate.

While pictures can't show the fluid framerate, they can obviously show resolution differences. BGR reports that DualShockers posted photos of the game in action for all the consoles, and the differences are very noticeable.

DualShockers has compiled a number of screenshots from previews of Metal Gear Solid V for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. It’s beyond evident that the current-generation versions of the game show huge improvements compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, but you can also see that PlayStation 4 owners will have a different experience than Xbox One owners since the game will be full HD.
Here are all the comparison photos, courtesy of DualShockers.

It's evident that the PS4 features a crisper, less blurry version of the game when compared to the XBO, but there doesn't seem to be as significant of a difference when compared to the PS3 and 360.

For those that don't own a new-gen console, do these continuing reports of non-1080p games on XBO persuade you or others to look deeper into purchasing a PS4?
