"Proteus" Comes to PlayStation 3, Vita this Fall

One of the many indie titles that will be coming for PlayStation hardware is the award-winning Proteus from Curve Studios

Rob Clarke, PR and Marketing Manager of the company, explains what exactly the PC port is on the PlayStation Blog, or at least tries to unmask the "uniqueness."

A lot of games get called ‘unique’, but we think there’s honestly nothing quite like Proteus. It’s a game all about exploration, mystery, color and sound. Played in first person and set on an uninhabited island, it’s all about getting immersed in a dreamlike world.

Everything in Proteus is procedurally generated, which means the game is different each time you play. The game plays through all four seasons before the end, and it’s nearly impossible to see everything in the game with one play through.

It looks odd from the pictures, and playing a game from nearly Atari-like graphics in a first-person design will be tough to capture the attention of non-retro fans. Or ones that are generally tired of the genre.

However, the PC version scored above a 78 percent at GameRankings and the game has won multiple awards such as the "Most Amazing Game" from Amaze in 2012.

No exact release date has been launched, but The Escapist details that Proteus will be out in the fall window and Clarke confirms on the post that it is a "Cross Buy game."
