With just over two hours left on the auction, someone is actually going to purchase a PlayStation 4 for well over double the retail price on eBay.
Konrad Krawczyk of International Business Times noticed the auction earlier today.
Right now, someone is willing to fork over $809 for a PS4. Keep in mind that the PS4 is going for $399 at retail, but there's at least one person that's willing to pay a premium of more than $400 to guarantee themselves a shiny new next-gen game console later this year.
As of when this post went live, the price currently sits at $859 after five bids. The seller of this item, royal1eagle, has just one feedback on an account that's been open for at least a year.
Paying this much for a console that could be tough to find is insanity. Why are people demanding a new console this much when the PlayStation 3 still has plenty of games coming out that can tide people over for years before moving on?
America is especially notorious for wanting to always get the next big thing; even I fall victim of that from time to time. But paying this much for something that will be readily available next year for sure is just not smart. Which is why eBay continues to be flooded with people flipping products they buy, and eBay certainly won't stop it because they profit off of it on people that are uninformed.
But for those that can't wait a couple months, or for some reason didn't bother to pre-order it when they knew they would get it, more power to them.
