The highly-acclaimed RPG series will have its next installment on the PlayStation 3, set for release next winter. Yahoo News gives a description of the teaser trailer:
True to form, the "Persona 5" teaser trailer is suitably cryptic, with five stacks of school chairs attached to five ball-and-chain weights. "You are a slave. Want emancipation?" it asks, before a winter 2014 release is specified.Leading up to the release will be two more spinoffs of Persona 4 along with a completely new Persona.
First will be a sequel to Persona 4 Arena, which is a crossover of the RPG turned into a fighter, accompanied by Arc System Works (makers of BlazBlue). Persona 4: the Ultimate Ultra Suplex Hold will be released next summer on PS3. Also coming in the summer is what Yahoo describes as "the series' characters get even bigger eyes and even smaller noses" in Persona Q: Shadow of the Labrynth, which will be released on the Nintendo 3DS.
The last game crosses over into a new genre, a rhythm-based game called Persona 4: Dancing All Night, which will be released on the PS Vita next fall.
For those that are wondering why the next Persona won't be on Sony's next-generation console, it's likely due to the current install base of the PS3. It would cost too much to release the game on two different consoles, and they would obviously sell more of the series on the PS3 than the PS4.
The Persona series is currently developed and published by Atlas.
