'Capcom vs. SNK 2' Heading to PlayStation Network This Week
One of the "Vs." series is getting a digital release on the PlayStation 3, albeit just a PS2 Classic release.
Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 is a three-team fighter that pegs the best of Capcom and SNK's worlds together. While everyone knows about Capcom's characters (Street Fighter, Mega Man, Darkstalkers), SNK was most famous for their Fatal Fury fighting series. Other players from their franchises make appearances.
The news of the digital download was revealed on the Official PlayStation Blogcast. It will be released next week on the PlayStation store.
Unfortunately, it's a missed opportunity of what could have been.
Capcom vs. SNK 2 is a solid fighter that deserves an HD upgrade and a portable release on the Vita. While just copying the game and throwing it into the store will generate sales, an upgrade may have made the lasting appeal stronger.
Either way, for those that missed it or aren't close enough to play the old arcade classic now, it's a highly recommended purchase even as a PS2 port.
