Over 1 million copies of 'Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes' has shipped

So much for people being weary of a short game. Konami has confirmed that over million physical copies of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has shipped for PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

Gamespot reports that it's unknown exactly how many copies of the game has been sold, but that total amount does not include all the digital copies that were sold -- and the PlayStation 3 edition was $10 cheaper on the PlayStation Network

It's unclear how many copies of the game were actually sold. In the United States, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes was the sixth best-selling game of the month, outpaced by Dark Souls II, Call of Duty: Ghosts, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Infamous: Second Son, and Titanfall in that order.

There's quite a bit of replayability on Ground Zeroes, and there's DLC coming, but skeptics were wondering if a "pre-game" would do well before the actual game would come out. It was a step beyond some developers that released a chapter or so of a game, such as Dead Rising 2: Case Zero and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

Will this be an upcoming trend in the game industry? To release a shorter game for half price before a full game is actually released?

Let's hope not, but at the very least, anything with the Metal Gear Solid name on it will sell. Hell, even Metal Gear Rising did pretty good for itself.
