The Entertainment Software Association, or ESA, released a report called "Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Games Industry." In this report, the ESA detailed how much video games are involved in households, how much parents are involved in helping to make purchases with their children, and different statistics among men and women, along with ages, who play video games.
There's a significant increase of gaming in all categories. VG24/7 highlights a high amount of people in the United States that play video games as well as a rather high median age.
Other data noted in the report notes that on average, there are two gamers in US households, and 59% of Americans play video games. The median age of gamers in the US is 32.
Some other stats that VG24/7 gives are that more females at 18 years or older represent 36 percent of the gaming industry while boys under the age of 18 are just at 17 percent. And while the median age of gamers is 32, the average age of game purchasers are 35.
It was just years ago when games were just considered something for kids, and that's certainly not the case with a large amount of games being "Mature" rated, and the rise of gaming on phones and tablets. Even a re-entry into the PC market has been triumphant with Steam.
Now video games are becoming America's newest pastime.
