ZeniMax Online Studios announced on the PlayStation Blog (via Gamespot) Tuesday that all PS4 owners will just need to pay the monthly subscription through the company themselves, the same way PC and Mac users have it.
"A PlayStation Plus membership is not required to play The Elder Scrolls Online," game director Matt Firor said on the PlayStation Blog. "PS4 players will only be required to pay the same monthly subscription associated with The Elder Scrolls Online that PC and Mac users will pay--nothing more."To compare, the monthly subscription for ESO is $14.99 and PS+ is $49.99. PS+ is required on the PS4 to play games online, but it looks like Sony won't force customers to purchase the subscription if they have to pay a separate monthly charge.
In contrast, Microsoft forces all gamers to have an Xbox Live Gold account to play any Xbox One game online, and as of right now they aren't letting up that restriction for ESO.
The PlayStation 4 edition of ESO will be released later this year.
