Minecraft sold over one million copies on PlayStation 3

Minecraft has been out on the PlayStation 3 console for less than two months, and the creators have announced that it has already sold over one million copies.

Daniel Kaplan of Mojang posted on their home page Friday that the Sony console edition reached over a million sales since its release on December 17th.
Just wanted to let you know that Minecraft on PS3 recently sold over 1 million copies (that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?). It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year. We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you (more on that in a later blog post).
It may not be a record, but it debuted as the number one seller for the PS3 in the PlayStation Store in the United States and Europe for the month of December. Considering the sales have already reached over one million, it wouldn't be surprised to see them near the top if not at the top for another month.

This edition may never reach the lofty numbers on PC or Xbox 360 (14 and 10 million sold roughly, respectively), but the game is proving that it will sell on any platform. Don't be surprised to see an edition released on the PS4 and Vita in the future that will contain the same $19.99 price tag - and remote play.
