PlayStation Vita receives system update 2.60, adds convenient cloud saving

PS VITA (PlayStation Vita)

In a rare sign of acknowledgement, Sony has released a system update for the PlayStation Vita. The handheld has been updated to version 2.60, adding some convenient shortcuts for accessories and saved games.

Probably the greatest news is for those of us with PlayStation Plus and easy access to transfer game saves for our digital games that we keep swapping out of our four gigabyte memory cards.

Version 2.60 of the PS Vita's firmware adds a PlayStation Plus icon to a game's LiveArea screen. From there, PS Plus subscribers have the option to upload and download game save data to and from their online storage folder, with the option to auto-upload save data.
The update also adds the ability to play content saved on a connected device, either a PlayStation 3 or PC, with the Vita's video and music apps.

Also, users have the ability to turn on and off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth by holding the PS button down and bringing up the menu screen.

Thanks to cloud saving with game saves, it will be much more convenient to move games to and from the memory card. I still refuse to pay $90 for a memory card that's incredibly overpriced.

Maybe Sony can work on that next.
