RUMOR: PlayStation 4's Retail Price Leaked by Sony India
The price of the PlayStation 4 may have mistakenly been released from an official German Sony website.
Apparently, Sony India had the price listed on their website briefly for 399 Euros for the 250 gigabyte model. Do a quick currency translation on Google and the price marks at about $513.59 in American currency.
However, there are two things wrong with a currency conversion in this case. First, Sony generally lists both prices the same in dollars and euros, similar to when they dropped the PlayStation 3 to 250 units in both places. Second, there's no way in hell Sony will even attempt to sell a 250 GB model with a retail price of around $500.
$400 is about the price that many of us expected for that size of model. It wouldn't be a surprise at all to see a 500 GB model for around $500 retail when the console is officially released in the United States.
Of course, with my current backlog of games from all the purchases from sales, the list of free games sitting on my PS3 harddrive with PlayStation Plus, and all the new games I still need to get this year, I'll probably won't even bother with a PS4 until the potential 500 GB retail price is slashed in half.
That, or I give up and sell everything to just get a PS4. We'll see when more information gets released around E3.
